Opel Vivaro e-Concept : Transporter with Ampera drive
A concept is catching on: The drive of the Opel Ampera could be transferred to trucks. At the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hannover (23 to 30 September 2010) presents the brand, the study Vivaro e-Concept.
The study Vivaro e-concept is to have a pure electric range of 100 kilometers. On longer routes, such as intercity buses or shuttle service that will automatically switch to a smaller internal combustion engine that produces a new current generator for the battery. This provides a 111 kilowatt (151 hp) and 370 Nm of electric motor. In this way, the range increases to about 400 kilometers. As the Ampera the Vivaro also e-concept moves constantly with electric drive. The combustion engine only supplies energy - a concept that is also called a serial hybrid. The loading capacity of five cubic meters and 750 kilograms payload to the electric Vivaro make a full fledged van for delivery trips in the city or town near you. Whether it will be for the internal combustion engine to the commercial vehicle diesel and more data does not agree with Opel.
The lithium-ion batteries can be recharged at a household 230-volt outlet. They are mounted under the flat-load floor Vivaro. There, the batteries deliver a low center of gravity for the lowest driving under the influence especially crosswinds, so the manufacturer. Whether the concept will go into series here, I would not, "With the e-Concept Vivaro we want to explore the acceptability of this technology for the visitors," says Opel responsible for commercial vehicles, Chris Gubbey.
